Bio-Active Gravel is a natural aquarium substrate enhanced with live nitrifying bacteria to help establish biological filtration and support a healthy aquarium cycle.

Aqua Natural substrates are sustainably sourced, triple washed and kiln dried before bio-activation. Their carefully graded structure provides natural beauty, generous surface area for beneficial bacteria and practical everyday cleaning.

Using as the Primary Substrate

Use approximately 450g of Bio-Active Substrate for every 3.8 litres of aquarium water.

• Do not rinse before use.
• Spread the substrate evenly and add water slowly.
• Avoid stirring or disturbing the substrate.
• Start the filter once the aquarium is filled. Any cloudiness should clear over time.

Mixing with Dry Substrate

Use a ratio of one part live Bio-Active Substrate to four parts rinsed dry substrate. The combined amount should equal approximately 450g for every 3.8 litres of aquarium water.

• Do not rinse the Bio-Active Substrate.
• Mix the live and dry substrates thoroughly.
• Spread evenly and fill the aquarium slowly.
• Start the filter once the aquarium is full. Any cloudiness should clear over time.

Live nitrifying bacteria are harmless to marine life. Combine with a matching Aqua Natural dry substrate or a complementary colour to create your own blend.
